Thanksgiving Day Community Meal

Our beautiful community has been working together to find a place for the Thanksgiving community peace meal and we are grateful for all of you. Our friends at the First Presbyterian church are sharing their hall. How kind is that?

The church is located at 1615 Clark Ave. in Ashland. Dinner will be 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

We have sign-up sheets ready. We need more help, and there are several good ways to pitch in this year. We never know how many people we’ll feed, but I think we better be ready for several hundred, including some home deliveries for people who are homebound.

What you now know as the peace meal began eight years ago on Thanksgiving day when a big group of volunteers came together to create that first meal. You’ve all helped keep it going. Love in action.
You’ve probably heard about our struggles to find a location this year. We are really close to the wire. Normally I start planning months before the big day. We have 12 days to pull this off, but knowwe can do it. We will need lots of food, volunteers and money. In fact, let’s start with that. Monetary donations can be made at www.sojwj.org

We have 2 separate sign-up sheets. The first is for food donations. The second one is to donate time.
IMPORTANT: you have to click the red RSVP button, even if you’re not planning to attend, and then choose from the drop-down menu. It’s a little clunky, but it’s free software.
